Dear Friends and Family,
This September I will be going away to university, and I feel very grateful for the opportunity. Education is something I do not take for granted, especially knowing that in many parts of the world, girls are still denied access to it. That reality has made me realize just how powerful education is, and how it can completely change a person’s future.
More than anything, it has made me believe that education should be a right, not a privilege. Every child, no matter their gender or background should have access to quality schooling and the chance to build a better life. Education creates opportunity, reduces poverty, and strengthens entire communities.
That is the kind of world I want to live in:
A world where everyone has equal access to education and opportunity.
A world where people live in peace and feel safe.
A world with clean drinking water for all.
A world where climate change is taken seriously.
A world where everyone has a real chance at a better tomorrow.
My brother Khalid and I are raising funds and awareness to help fight global poverty in parts of Africa and Asia, with a focus on education and basic needs for children and families who don’t have the same opportunities we do here in Canada.
We want a world where quality education and healthcare are available to everyone, and where both women and men have equal opportunity to succeed and grow.
